Offered Service: The TA-programme offers Transnational Access to five infrastructures, located in five different European countries, forming the European infrastructure LEIF. These infrastructures deliver high-quality beams of low energy ions, atomic ions in charge states up to extremely high values (U92+), (bio)molecular ions and mass selected cluster ions. High-level instrumentation (storage rings, ion traps, high-resolution mass spectrometers) is available for common experiments.
Profit from this Access Programme and apply for beam time!
In case of approval, the travel and subsistence expenses of the user group will be covered by the network (up to a certain limit).
-
Eligibility: Both, the user group leader (spokesperson) and the majority of the users must originate from Member States or Associated States. Furthermore, both the user group leader and the majority of the users must belong to an institution from a country other than the country where the infrastructure is established.
-
Application form (click here to download) : to fill out and send to the Central ITS LEIF Office (CILO). It is proposed to contact the infrastructures before application, in order to ensure that the infrastructure can deliver the instrumentation (if required) and the beam necessary for the experiment. The Proposal Selection Panel (PSP) may propose a reorientation towards another infrastructure in case of overbooking or specific technical aspects.es.
-
Procedure: Application can be submitted at any time of the year. The receipt of the beam time application is acknowledged without delay. After verification of the eligibility, technical and safety issues, it is sent to two referees who are members of the PSP. In case of several applications, the PSP sets up a list of submitted proposals which may be supported. The Executive Committtee decides on the attribution of the alloted beam time. The amount of the allotted beam time depends on the technical feasibility and the scientific merit. Furthermore, new user groups will be prioritised. The decision is transmitted to the user group leader as well as to the selected installation, which contacts the user group leader for scheduling the experiment.
